Parshas V’eschanan – Shema Yisroel

Every day we recite the Shema as our proclamation of our Jewish faith. In this incredible discourse we learn the power of this short phrase. By meditating on the inner meaning of these words we can propel ourselves to the greatest spiritual heights. It focuses on the aspect of pleasure and how all the pleasures that we know are but the “waste” of the real pleasures in the higher plains. When we fully appreciate this truth all of our drives converge into one singular drive to touch the divine.

Tanya – Chapter 9 – Class 3

The ultimate desire of the G-dly soul Is to convert the animal soul that she too should become a drive for holiness. To achieve this the G-dly soul needs to attain a much higher level of love that is called “love of delight”. Unlike the lower form of love which is compered to fire, an experience where one feels that G-d is far and distant and the human being is trying to bridge this gap, resulting in a thirst and burning passion to get closer. This higher love is like water that connects particles one to another here one feels the pleasure and bliss from being connected to G-d. Its this pleasure that the G-dly soul can share with the animal soul that will result in a total transformation of the unholy in man.

Balak – Ma Toivu

A fascinating discourse on the many dimensions of Tshuvah. First the Tshuvah called “turning from evil” the intent is to remove all the barriers that separate between our soul and G-d. Once the obstructions have been removed we can move on to a higher Tshuvah called “do good” the objective here is to connect the soul to the transcendental dimension of divinity this is accomplished through Mitzvah observance. Then we move to the highest level of Tshuvah called “seek peace” a state of ultimate fusion with the divine essence this is achieved through Torah study.

Chukas – Va’Yikchu Elechah Parah Aduma

Exploring the mystery of the red heifer. To eliminate death we need to eliminate evil which is accomplished through cutting off its original power supply. The spiritual origins of the red heifer is connected to the last stage of divine transmission before it descends into the realms of evil to give them life. Through this amazing process that the Torah describes of burning the red heifer we assure that the flow of G-dly energy remains channeled toward holiness. Evil’s power supply is then permanently halted and the evil itself is fully eliminated.

Chukas – V’yas Moshe N’chash N’choshes

A discourse expounding on the root of pain and suffering, with great insight into the power that is given to us to transform the negative to positive.

Tanya – Chapter 9 – Class 2

The great battle begins, the two souls are at each others throats each one desires to be the king of the body. The G-Dly soul wants the body to be completely surrendered to her. That all brain activity should be to the service of its holy intelligence and all feelings of the heart should be of a spiritual nature.
